A brand identity project that highlights the importance of diversity and inclusion in football, using illustration, community-driven messaging, and visual storytelling to represent a more inclusive sporting culture.
Research was conducted into representation in football, particularly looking at the social and racial barriers faced by players at all levels. The campaign aimed to create a welcoming and diverse brand identity, ensuring football is seen as a sport for everyone.
The 7-A-Side branding was built around illustrated role models, showcasing individuals from different backgrounds, genders, and ethnicities. The typography was designed to feel bold, approachable, and community-driven, reflecting the team spirit found in grassroots football. A vibrant and energetic colour palette was selected to encourage a positive and inclusive message.
The campaign also tackled social issues in sport, addressing topics such as online hate and gender disparities by promoting supportive community engagement through digital and print media.
The 7-A-Side brand identity was successful in communicating inclusivity, helping to challenge traditional barriers in football. The combination of illustration, storytelling, and community engagement reinforced the idea that football is for everyone, encouraging participation at all levels.
